Introducing Oakdale Chiropractor Dr. Doug Harden
"Looking back, I knew nothing about chiropractic or how it could improve someone's health." "But after suffering for years with hay fever and nosebleeds, I vividly remember my first appointment with a local chiropractor. For the first time in years I could breathe freely and enjoy the autumn colors and fragrances. It was incredible!"
After my chiropractor explained that his spinal adjustments could actually correct the cause of my health problems rather than just covering up the symptoms with medication, I made the decision to become a chiropractor myself, says Dr. Harden.
Dr. Harden began his college education at the University of Minnesota and studied pre-dentistry while enrolled in the honors program. There he studied chemistry, physics, biology, physiology, anatomy and biochemistry among other courses. After completing his studies there, he was accepted for admission to Northwestern Chiropractic College in Bloomington, Minnesota. His four year graduate studies at Northwestern included additional courses in advanced anatomy, human physiology, neurology, diagnosis as well as chiropractic adjusting of the spine. Much of the curriculum in Chiropractic College is exactly the same as Medical College. Instead of an emphasis on drugs and surgery, chiropractic doctors place an emphasis on safe and effective spinal adjusting techniques, neurology and the body's natural ability to heal without the use of drugs or surgery.
Dr. Harden completed his internship at a chiropractic clinic in White Bear Lake before establishing Oakwood Chiropractic Clinic in 1978. Dr. Harden went on to further his studies in a five year post graduate course in Chiropractic Orthopedics and in 1985 was certified a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists.
Dr. Harden incorporates many different adjusting techniques tailored to his patients' specific needs. He is a member of many professional associations and continues to learn the latest, most up to date changes in his profession. He has served as President of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association and the Northwestern Chiropractic College Alumni Association. Dr. Harden is also an examining doctor for board eligible chiropractors.
We are committed to helping people understand how to achieve health safely and naturally. It is my responsibility to help people live pain free and to do what it takes to stay that way by encouraging a natural, healthy lifestyle. That's why we make it a point to emphasize education, exercise and nutritional support to give the body the greatest chance of health and an abundant lifestyle. That is also why we use the safest, most comfortable and most effective techniques to naturally support the body and its healing process.
Through the years we have had the opportunity to help people overcome neck and back pain, yet chiropractic is so much more than just relieving pain. When an infant is no longer suffering with one ear infection after another or when a thirty year old man is able to discontinue his "daily" antacids as their nervous system returns to normal, miracles do occur. We see wonderful, lifestyle changes in our office everyday.
Dr. Harden married his best friend Terri out of high school in 1972 and they have four children, five grandchildren and one on the way. We enjoy time spent with family and friends and going to the cabin for "relaxation."
And yes, says Dr. Harden, I get my spine adjusted regularly as well. Regular chiropractic care for my family and myself keeps us healthy and ready to perform our daily activities to our greatest potential.
Thank you for visiting our site. Now that you know more about me I would be more than delighted to learn a little bit more about you. Hopefully what you have read has you asking yourself "what can chiropractic do for me?"
